Gingerbread Houses by Photography Club, December Student Event of the Month

The Photography Club’s Gingerbread Houses event, held on December 4, 2025, brought creativity, competition, and photography together in a unique and engaging way. Student groups designed their own gingerbread houses, then photographed them using club cameras, with the winning house determined through an Instagram bracket. By making photography central to the competition, the event encouraged participants to step behind the camera and explore photography in a hands-on, approachable way. The winning team received a Photography Club t-shirt.
The event was organized entirely by the Photography Club executive team: Anna Gambone, President; Matthew Debes, Vice President; Harrison Canfield, Secretary; Nora Murphy, Treasurer; and Sophia Johnson, Social Media Chair. Executive members divided responsibilities across budgeting, supply coordination, event setup, advertising, and managing the Instagram bracket, working together to ensure the event ran smoothly despite high attendance.
This event demonstrated strong student leadership by introducing photography to students who may not have previously engaged with it while fostering collaboration among attendees. Participants worked together with peers they had not met before, using photography as both a creative outlet and a competitive tool. Through the success of the event, the Photography Club reinforced an important lesson: with a clear vision, teamwork, and dedication, student-led initiatives can bring creative ideas to life and strengthen campus community. Congratulations to the Photography Club!
