Providence College offers programs that help first-year students make social connections, identify academic support resources, and find upperclassmen mentors.

• Connections Retreat – All first-year students are invited to attend this retreat where students build their faith, learn from upperclassmen mentors, and enjoy kayaking, roasting marshmallows and more! This retreat is facilitated by Campus Ministry.
• Emerging Leaders Program – A six week workshop-style experience for first-year students to learn foundational leadership skills and explore their leadership style.
• Horizons Program – Horizons empowers first-year students with tools that help them acclimate to campus while maintaining their identity and cultural values. Students will build relationships with peers, develop cultural agility and create a network of support.
• SAS 178 Introduce to Providence College course – Transitioning from high school to college can be daunting. The academic experience is more rigorous. There’s a whole new social environment and campus culture to navigate. Students are challenged to manage their own time and activities in a way many have never done before. To help, the Center for Engaged Learning, in collaboration with Academic Advising, runs a 1-credit course for first-semester students at Providence College called Introduction to Providence College.
• PC Firsts – PC Firsts is an organization that supports first-generation college students in their pursuit of higher education. PC Firsts builds community, offers social and academic support, and creates a reflective environment for students. The program teaches students how to navigate the college community, balance relationships between home and campus, and create a network of support from peers and faculty.​​​
