Orientation Leaders serve incoming new students and families during the First Day in Friartown program (June Orientation) and Fall Orientation. OLs provide an energic and welcoming first experience for freshman and transfer students by leading small groups, providing insight into the academic experience and registration process, and developing impactful connections.

Summer (June) 2027 OL Position Description
Summer Orientation Leaders (OLs) serve incoming new students and families during the First Day in Friartown program (June Orientation). OLs provide an energic and welcoming first experience for freshman and transfer students by leading small groups, providing insight into the academic experience and registration process, and developing impactful connections.
Qualifications
- Must remain in good judicial and academic standing with Providence College
- Preferred qualities: communication skills, adaptability, time management, passion for serving others and supportive member of a team.
Benefits
- Summer OLs will be paid $17.00/hour for summer work. Spring hours are volunteer hours.
- Summer OLs will receive an estimated 95-120 hours during their employment (including training)
- Summer OLs will receive free on-campus housing during their employment.
- Summer OLs will receive free meals during training and during First Day in Friartown sessions.
- Summer OLs will receive multiple New Student Orientation apparel items.
- Summer OLs will develop public speaking, leadership, customer service and team building skills.
- Summer OLs will support the transition of 12-25 new students every session; providing them with an opportunity to develop impactful connections with new students while making a meaningful impact on the experience of over 100 new students throughout the summer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a small group of students (with OL partner) through each First Day in Friartown session.
- Provide insight on Provide College resources, departments, and academics (will be trained).
- Provide an energetic and positive first experience to new students and families.
- Attend all trainings and program sessions, as listed in the “Important Dates” section. You must attend all dates of Summer OL Training and all First Day in Friartown sessions.
Important Dates
- March 2, 2027: Orientation Leader Meet & Greet 6:00-7:00 PM
- April 4, 2027: Orientation Leader Training. 12:00-4:00 PM
- May 31- June 5, 2027: Summer OL Training
- June 7-10 & 14-17, 2027: Summer Orientation sessions

Fall (August) 2027 OL Position Description
Fall Orientation Leaders (OLs) serve incoming new students and families during Fall Orientation. OLs provide an energic and welcoming experience for freshman and transfer students by leading small groups, providing insight into the academic experience, and developing impactful connections.

- Fall OLs will support the transition of 22-35 new students through fall orientation; providing them with the opportunity to develop impactful relationships with new students.
- Fall OLs will have the opportunity to move into their on-campus housing assignment early.
- Fall OLs develop lasting friendships with a dynamic group of fellow student leaders.
- Fall OLs will be provided with free meals through training and Fall Orientation days.
- Fall OLs will receive at least four New Student Orientation apparel items.

- August 25-29, 2027: Orientation Programming
Information Session Dates
Interest sessions provide information on the OL roles and guidance on the application and interview process. Anyone interested in the OL roles is strongly encouraged to attend.
All Interest Sessions will be in Slavin 112.

Application & Interview Timeline
- All candidates must apply by 11/23 at 11:59 PM
- All candidates will list their interview availability at the end of their application.
- More information will be sent to candidates following the 11/23 application deadline.
- Invited candidates must complete an interview in January.
- Invited new candidates will participate in the group interview on January 24th, 2027.
- Invited returning candidates will sign-up for an individual interview between January 20th-22nd.
- All interviewed candidates will be notified of their selection status by February 5th, 2027.
