Horizons Program

Horizons empowers first-year students with tools that help them acclimate to campus while maintaining their identity and cultural values. Students will build relationships with peers, develop cultural agility and create a network of support. This is achieved through monthly social events, a weekend retreat and meetings with their upperclassmen mentor.

Program Goals

  • To build relationships with peers
  • To develop cultural agility through intercultural interaction
  • To create a network of support for multicultural students at Providence College

Alumni Testimonies

Emily Mora ’19:
“Horizons is the retreat you want to partake in. Because of Horizons, I was able to start off my freshman year feeling prepared and most importantly, I was able to call the participants of the retreat my family. (The program) honestly broadened my horizons in various aspects.”

Horace L. Robinson ’17:
“The Horizons retreat gave me the confidence and strength to develop into my own person on Providence College’s campus. Before Horizons I was very secluded and stuck to the people I knew from high school; after, I had the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and become the student leader and graduate I am today.”

Kanyinsola Adedeji ’17:
“I truly believe that without Horizons I would not have made it through my first year at Providence College! It was tough and challenging, but knowing that I had resources and people that I could rely on really helped me out a lot! And years later, the bond is still there.”

Note: Regardless of organizational mission, all Providence College clubs/organizations are open to all students.
