Student Engagement and Leadership
Student Engagement and Leadership
There is always something to do in Friartown! Providence College students engage with a vibrant calendar of events while developing as leaders in their community and vocation.
Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) leads the planning of signature campus-wide events, including the Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs, Spring Concert, Senior Ring Weekend, and much more. We are committed to offering programming that supports and cultivates student growth while engaging students in experiences that foster inclusion and mutual respect. Check out our Student Events Calendar here!
SEAL provides advising and guidance to more than 125 student clubs and organizations. Through involvement and participation in clubs and organizations, students build friendships, explore interests, and build skills that prepare them for their future careers! Our diverse offering of organizations and programs provide students the opportunity to find community, experience belonging, take part in new experiences, and build relationships across differences.
The new student experience at Providence College begins with your First Day in Friartown and continues through Fall Orientation. These experiences are connected by our Preparing for Friartown, Pre-Orientation, and Fall Transition programs. SEAL coordinates the orientation of all new students to ensure that every student finds their home in Friartown.

First Day in Friartown is a one-day program required for all new students, including first-year and transfer students, and residential and commuter students.
New students will learn about academic, spiritual, and student life while building connections with peers, upper-class student leaders, and PC staff. Students will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and develop their fall academic schedule. Parents and families are invited to participate in a concurrent program focused on strategies to address the developmental and transitional issues commonly faced by new students and to have their questions answered by members of the PC community.
Visit the First Day in Friartown page to learn more.

Pre-orientation programs allow new students to move in early and connect with a small cohort of peers. They are a great experience for anyone looking to make friends, learn about campus, and engage in the community in a more intimate environment.
New students participating in pre-orientation move into their fall housing assignments four days prior to New Student Move-In.
Visit the Pre-Orientation Programs page to learn more.

SEAL provides programs, coaching, and formational experiences to guide students in their leadership development. We celebrate the idea that leadership shows up in a lot of forms, so our programs are designed to challenge and support students at all stages of their leadership journey.
The PC1G initiative is designed to help first-generation students and their families find resources and programs and have their questions answered, so that they may thrive at Providence College. SEAL hosts the First-Generation Senior Celebration, First-Generation College Student Week events and provides training for faculty/staff who want to better serve first-generation students. Providence College is recognized nationally as a FirstGen Forward Network member and is on the path to being recognized as a FirstGen Forward Champion campus. Visit the PC1G page to learn more.
